This piece was originally conceived for The Marches Scribes annual exhibition entitled Myths and Legends. Being based within the Welsh borders, I felt that I had to tackle a tale from The Mabinogion in Welsh. The Oldest Animals in the World are represented through the interlacing magical celtic beasts edged in 24 carat gold leaf, and the main characters in the tale introduce each paragraph, the blackbird, stag, owl, eagle and the salmon.
