I like to tell the tale through the illustration. The owl and the pussy cat are together sailing under a silver moon in their pea-green boat – and the outline of the illustration traces the indentation of the lines of the poem. Each verse opens with an elaborately flourished copperplate capital that sits nicely with the formal italic lettering.
