This is a popular verse and a frequent commission which over the years I have handled in a variety of ways designed to suit the client’s specific requirements. The work is attributed to Max Ehrmann and, to my mind, has a Victorian quality to it. I therefore consider a variant on the Gothic style suits best, such as a Gothic cursive or Batarde, but a touch of indulgence with the gold leaf illumination is essential.
